Employee eligibility and questions

Can we include agency workers, contractors, apprentices and temporary staff?

Yes. Tell us which groups you are funding, including agency workers, contractors, apprentices and temporary staff, and we will include them in the timetable and quote.

Can employees under 18 attend, or is your workplace service adults only?

Our workplace clinics are for adult employees. If you have apprentices or other staff under 18, tell us when you enquire and we will advise on the options.

Can family members or employees from neighbouring businesses join our clinic?

Talk to us first. We can often include family members or staff from a neighbouring business, as long as funding and site access are agreed in advance.

What should pregnant or breastfeeding employees do before booking?

Flu vaccination is recommended in pregnancy. Pregnant or breastfeeding employees should mention it to our pharmacist, who will confirm the right vaccine and answer any questions in private.

Can employees with egg allergy, previous vaccine reactions or other allergies use the service?

Usually, yes. Employees should tell our pharmacist about any allergy or previous reaction. Most people with egg allergy can be vaccinated safely, and the pharmacist decides for each person.

What should staff taking anticoagulants or immunosuppressive medicines tell the pharmacist?

They should tell our pharmacist about their medicines and should not stop any prescribed treatment to attend. The pharmacist will advise on any precautions.

Can someone with a cold, fever or recent infection still be vaccinated?

A mild cold is not usually a reason to wait. Anyone with a fever or who feels unwell should tell our pharmacist, who may suggest coming back once they have recovered.

Can an employee have a flu jab near the time of another vaccination?

Usually, yes. Employees should tell our pharmacist which other vaccines they have had recently or are due, and the pharmacist will advise.

What should we tell employees who cannot remember whether they have already had this season's flu jab?

Ask them to check with their GP or pharmacy if they can, and to raise it with our pharmacist on the day.

Can employees discuss a confidential clinical concern before the clinic day?

Yes. Employees can email contact@hylhealth.co.uk or call 07818 283 965 and ask to speak to a pharmacist privately. They should not send health details through a shared work inbox.
